Doing so can give you the opportunity to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Discuss your child\u2019s specific <a href=\"https:\/\/advantageent.com\/audiologist\/hearing-loss-testing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hearing loss<\/a> needs.<\/li><li>Work with their teacher to figure out how to maximize your child\u2019s ability to hear well in the classroom, such as making sure they get a seat up in the front of the class.<\/li><li>Show them how your child\u2019s specific hearing aid model works. Especially if your child is younger, it can be helpful for school staff to know how to troubleshoot the device or change batteries if needed.<\/li><li>Keep an open line of communication between you and their teachers throughout the school year.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Communication with your child\u2019s teachers can be especially important since observational studies have shown that many children with hearing loss <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/26650231\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">don\u2019t wear their hearing aids when they are in class<\/a> and that their parents are often unaware of this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Make Sure They Have All Their Hearing Aid Supplies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s important for children who wear their <a href=\"https:\/\/advantageent.com\/audiologist\/benefits-of-hearing-aids\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hearing aids<\/a> in class to have all the accessories and supplies necessary to keep their device safe and working throughout the day.
